Why old versions exist
The app has gone through several builds on its way to the current v3.2. Older versions float around because some players keep setups that work, and very old phones sometimes run an earlier build more smoothly. The app download page hosts the current version, and this guide explains when reaching for an older one makes sense.
When an old version is the right call
Three situations qualify. First, the current build crashes on a very old device while an earlier build ran fine. Second, you are following a guide written for a specific older build and want to match it exactly. Third, you simply prefer a version you know. Outside those cases, stay current: newer builds carry the bug fixes and stability work.
How to install an old version
Android does not allow installing an older APK over a newer one. Uninstall your current app first, then install the older file normally, following the same steps in the installation guide. Expect your local progress to be gone; backups from a newer build will not restore into an older one.
The tradeoffs to know
Old versions miss out on stability fixes and may connect less reliably to the fan servers. They can also have bugs the current build already solved. Treat an old version as a deliberate compromise for a specific device, not as a permanent home.
Where to get them safely
Only download old builds from sources you already trust. Random mirrors are the classic source of tampered files. If you must go older, get the file from the same trusted place you got the current one, verify the file installs without strange permission demands, and keep the update guide handy for when you are ready to move back to the current build.
